Electrical Testing & Commissioning Training Course
Course Objectives
By the conclusion of this course, attendees will be able to:
-
Understand Fundamental Standards and Regulations
Grasp the national and international standards (e.g. IEC, BS, IEEE), codes, safety legislation and compliance requirements that govern electrical testing and commissioning. -
Master Testing Instruments and Tools
Use, calibrate, and interpret measurements from testing equipment such as insulation testers, slip-on earth testers, high-pot testers, power analyzers, relay test sets, etc. -
Plan and Execute Commissioning Protocols
Develop and follow checklists, risk assessments, test plans, commissioning sequences, pre-start and functional tests. -
Perform Specific Tests
Carry out pre-commissioning (visual, mechanical, electrical continuity), insulation resistance, earth/ground testing, high potential (dielectric) testing, cable testing, transformer and switchgear tests, protection relay testing. -
Ensure Power Quality and System Reliability
Measure harmonics, voltage fluctuations, load balancing, system disturbances; identify and mitigate faults and inefficiencies. -
Document and Report Results
Prepare precise test reports, ensure traceability, handle non-conformities, corrective actions and hand-over documentation. -
Implement Safety and Risk Management
Apply personal protective equipment (PPE), lock-out/tag-out procedures, live work policies, site safety standards, emergency protocols.
